ABC Safe Boating Class
The Reno Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla offers a monthly Boating Safely Class. Statistics show that boaters who are experienced and have taken a Boating Safety Course are much less likely to have a boating accident. Our class meets the requirements for a Safe Boating Class required by many states including the State of Nevada. The class is now mandatory for those operating boats or PWCs if they were born after January 1, 1983. Many aspects of boating are covered in the class. We teach the essentials of safe boat operation including how to trailer your boat, communications on the water, boating problems, Nevada Boating Law, anchoring, Marlinspike (knots used on boats), launching and retrieving your boat and other aspects of boating.
This Boating Safely Course is taught the first Saturday of each month. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate from the US Coast Guard Auxiliary as well as a certificate of completion from the Nevada Department of Wildlife. Get it from the source, the Reno Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 3! Contact our Public Education Staff Officer to sign up for the course.
